Sign, Sign, everywhere a sign.....
Blocking out the scenery, breaking my mind.
Do this, don't do that, can't you read the sign?

Restricted Access

The lands deleted from Silver Star Provincial Park are now part of Silver Star Mountain Resort's Controlled Recreation Area (CRA). The land is still Crown Land, but is no longer under the jurisdiction of B.C. Parks. Silver Star Resort's licence to occupy the CRA gives them limited rights to control access to these lands, but it does not give them the same rights as if they owned the property. As stated on the CRA definitions page, the developer will not unreasonably refuse to allow a person to pass freely through the CRA for the purpose of a public recreation or other activity where that person will not make use of the recreation improvements or interfere with the safe and orderly development or operations within the CRA. The signage shown below however, creates the impression that the park has for all practical puposes become private property.

Former biathlon range is now closed to the public after 40,000 cubic metres of effluent-saturated soil excavated from the exfiltration lagoon was dumped here. It is possible that the sewage utility may use this area for effluent snowmaking.

Blocked access to Gold Mountain nordic ski trail at Silver Star waste transfer station. The new Ridge subdivision also cut off sections of this trail. Skiers must remove skis to negotiate past heavy equipment, and have to ski along a snowmobile trail and alpine ski run to get to the village from Sovereign Lake.

Road from Lumby at border of what used to be Silver Star Provincial Park. This gate is about 1 km from the logged fairways of Silver Star's proposed golf course.

April_29th__2009_033.JPG

Photo of the same gate, taken April 25th  2009 showing typical snowpack in the golf course area. Average snow depth on the golf course clearcuts was 3 feet. Most golf courses in the Okanagan valley had already been open for several weeks.

And the sign said, "anybody caught trespassing would be shot on sight"
So I jumped on the fence and yelled at the house, "Hey! what gives you the right ?
To put up a fence to keep me out, or to keep mother nature in
If God was here, he'd tell you to your face, man you're some kinda sinner"
