Silver Star Sewage Lagoon
Seepwater Streams Around Silver Star Sewage Lagoons
Effluent in the exfiltration lagoon seeps into the ground and surfaces in several places, forming streams that flow into the Vance Creek and Coldstream Creek drainages. These streams run year-round, and in mid-winter can often have high nitrate levels. To view a video of seepwater streams around the lagoons, click the icon below.

Sun Peaks Sewage Treatment Video
Sun Peaks Ski Resort, near Kamloops, British Columbia, is a competitor of Silver Star Mountain Resort, not only for destination skiers, but also for vacation home sales. Sun Peaks was the first ISO 14001 certified ski resort in North America, and remains one of only three who have attained this qualification. Projected buildout at Sun Peaks is around 23,000 bed units. Even with Sun Peaks' ISO Certification however, the potential environmental impacts of having such a large development in a sensitive subalpine area are worrisome.
